Jad is a lovely bride who sent me an email all the way from Davao last year.  She wanted a birdcage veil to wear to the church ceremony with a detachable feather clip to wear to the reception.  Thank you so much Jad for sending me your lovely photos.  :)

black swan

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a ballerina or an ice skater.  Maybe it  had something to do with the fluidity of their movements, their grace and unbelievable flexibility--or maybe it was their outfits.  

I took ballet lessons when I was a kid, but I got restless and moved on to other summer classes like tap dancing and, yes, hula dancing.  I never really pursued any of them after only a few sessions, much to my grandmother's frustration.  But still, seeing the trailer of Black Swan got me all excited. I can't wait to see it!  I don't know if it's out yet here.

 Maybe I'll wear one of these to the movie... I have yet to decide if I should wear black or white. Oh, and maybe throw in a tutu skirt to complete the outfit :)

For the Jazz Singer

My friend will be performing this Saturday with her jazz band, The Jive Project.  She asked me to make a headpiece for her, circa 1950's style. :)  Catch her wearing this fascinator on Saturday, Jan 22, 9pm at Chef and Brewer Ortigas.

Bru, the gorgeous other half of design and illustration duo, Electrolychee wears this quirky owl fascinator.  Also one of my favorite pieces:)  Oh and a bit of trivia, Bru illustrated and designed my fab fab calling card.

having a hoot

Ghyl looks fantastic wearing a piece that combines my two favorites--owls and sequins.  Each sequin was sewn by hand onto felt fabric. The effort was definitely worth it. 

patchwork

Before I got into making hats, I used to do patchwork pieces.  This was about 3 or 4 years back.  Now I'm thinking of incorporating patchwork into my headpieces.  The hunny bunny set could be a start :)

Bonne Inspiration: Brigitte Bardot

This piece was inspired by the lovely French actress, Brigitte Bardot. Although she was hailed as a sex kitten of her time, I think her bubbly spirit also comes out in many of her photos. A cute headpiece of yellow silk organza and chiffon fabric, all sewn by hand to form this form this lovely whimsical elastic headband.
