Mad, Mad Hatter Holiday

Bonsai, originally uploaded by Karen Kho.
It has been quite a hectic month so far. And as I try to get my life back in order, I will be working on quite a lot of projects during the Holidays. I won't be able to update my blog posts, but I might send out Christmas tweets every now and then.

Expect lots of goodies in 2010!

Happy Holidays!

The Walkway is Your Runway

Who says you need a formal event to get your fab on? I say wear it whenever, wherever.

Most of the inquiries I get are for formal events, weddings, debuts or hat parties. Although it may be a fantastic idea to add a great head piece to your already fabulous outfit, you can wear a great headpiece with jeans as well. All you need to do is strut your stuff as you stroll. You can be sidewalk chic, rockin' the roadside or workin' it wherever you go. So go ahead, wear a feather upon your head darlings. The walkway is your runway.

Style for Style

When my friends ask me what they should wear to a specific function, my response would always be "Who's your fashion icon?"

I find that it's easier to decide what to wear when you've pinned down the look that you're going for. And what better guide than the fab ladies who are known for their fashion sense? The next step, of course, would be that you add your personal touch (we don't want to get costume-y now, do we?). It could be through accessories like wearing chains instead of pearls; a splash of color onto an otherwise monochromatic look; or even make-up.

Sometimes, I even think of a specific person for a specific occasion. Meeting the boyfriend's parents? I usually go for the classics like Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Grace Kelly, Jean Pratchett--chic yet elegant. Consider the time of day and venue of course. Like pick "casual Audrey" for a lunch date with his parents, versus the iconic "Breakfast-at-Tiffany's-Audrey".

Going to a fun, laid-back party? I'd choose the carefree, fun-loving ladies like Anna Karina, Edie Sedgwick, Francoise Hardy, Brigitte Bardot or Blondie (but she's more gig-specific).

A "chi-chi" event? I say Louise Brooks. But that's just me though, 'cause I'm an old-fashioned gal.

So my question now is, who are your fashion icons?

I've been addicted to sewing sequins lately.
Sewing each piece on is quite relaxing for me.
I love putting them together, like sparkly pieces of a puzzle.

to kylie or not to kylie?

Kylie Minogue is hot hottie hot. And this is one of the reasons why I LOVE her.
I am assuming this outfit was Ziegfeld-inspired, worn by one of my fave 20's icons, Louise Brooks.

Which is why I am tempted to recreate this fab outfit for Halloween.
The head piece would be the major challenge in making this costume.
I don't know if I can do it. But I WANT to wear this!

Who wouldn't want to be draped in feathers?
